Registration advice please
First post guys so please be gentle

I'm sick to death of being unemployed and having my tools rusting in the garage so I'm wanting to set up on my own as a few guysI have subbed for recently have all got enough work to keep them going so I'm guessing there's enough work to go round.
The problem I have is that without 2 submittable jobs I'm unable to self cert, without the ability to self cert I cant get any work from local builders. The LABC route is hideously expensive and unless you can afford to absorb the cost of it yourself(which I cant at present) can put you out of contention against other local sparks who already have their self certification sorted. My situation at present also means that doing work at home and getting LABC involved then submitting these is also out of the question just now.
I'm sure that this will be a problem others out there have encountered and I'd be glad to hear how you got round it

Re: Registration advice please
I had to bite the bullet and go through the LABC.
I have seen posts on here that stated that their LABC were happy to allow them to certificate the job after they were members?
I joined Elecsa and their inspector wanted to see the building control application for the job I used as a sample.
I think my fee to BC was around £200.00, they never visited the site and accepted my paperwork by post.
Good luck

Re: Registration advice please
Most people do a couple of jobs, without first notifing the LABC, then use these jobs for registration purposes, and then submit the jobs for notification through the scheme.
Technically a job is not complete untill the EIC/MWC is issued, and you have 25/30 days from completion in which to submit the work through a scheme.
