hate job?

Which part do you hate the most?

TBH my pet hate is two cpc's from t&e cables being twisted together at sockets etc and sleeved over with one piece of sleeving. That really annoys me as I do a lot of testing.

thats one of mine as well Sintra nearly as bad as having 6 7 dbs all marked up differently ie: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8ect down one side n up other worst is 1,2,3,4, side to side I prefer down onw side and down the other makes counting easier specialy on a 24way

Or walking in to do a PIR and not a circuit chart or circuit refernce in sight.

Worst one has got to be not being PAID

yeh i hate the cpc`s twisted together, along with customers wanting that invisible cable that just magics itself into place with no boards up or chasing. not being paid as acat said. the most annoying one i think is when they try and tell you how to do the job.

Working in a flat with an isolated supply, plugging in your tester to do an r1r2 only to hear a big beep and a big error message, informing you you have just killed your tester. Subsequently finding that there are S/Os in the flat on downstairs' flat's (live) ring! This happened yesterday.

Finding T+E with 230v going up the red wire, and 230v going up the black wire, and no way of determining where the bloody cable comes from without taking up a tiled bathroom floor. Especially when all you want to do is a like-for-like luminaire. Also yesterday.

I also HATE the two-twisted-CPC-in-one-sheath jobbies. I always think 'that must have been MORE effort than doing it properly. WHY?!'

But the one I hate MOST OF ALL is when you're trying to explain to a customer that they need whatever looking at because it's not safe, and you're also doing them a favour by giving them a good price, but you get that glazed over 'I'm being ripped off' look and a 'well I'll have to ask my husband/wife/dad/electrician friend (THAT'S the worst, if they're so good why aren't they doing it?!) to have a look but I'll give you a ring'. They're not going to ring, but they ARE going to tell everyone they know how EXPENSIVE you are, having of course got NO BASIS IN FACT AND NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!! ARRRGH!

That's the worst, for me. That and falling off things.

My brotherinlaw is a "Hobby farmer" and his quote when wanting something done is " Big jamsey says........." My answer is "Big Jamseys a Farmer do I tell him how to shear his sheep?"

what about the client who sreams and screams to get you in to test but when you say some power will be swithced of they say NO!

thats easy i always quote about 5 hours more than it will and then there happy when you waqlk out early.

Say 'it all depends on the existing wiring, and I start charging extra time after 6pm. Any other questions?'
