Default Trainee Domestic Electrical Installer Seeks Work In Essex

    Hi there,

I will have completed the 2nd Part of my Electrcial Course so that will entitle me to the title as Domestic Electrical Installer: Defined Scope.
I have been trying to find work for local firms in my area but I either get no response or they state they have no vacencies at present.

Any help would be appreciated as desperate to start work even as an Electrican's Mate so can gain the valuable experience I so much need.

    Many thanks

with out been entirely rude you describe your self as "Domestic Electrical Installer: Defined Scope" and then ask to even work as an electrician mate..!!

WOW! like i said with out been rude that's probably the only role you will actually fill!

what qualifications do you currently hold

At the moment I have my CITB Certificated Essential Electrics certificate qualification and I am due to go away next week to do my 2nd part of my course which is for Domestic Electrical Installer equalivalent qualifications.
This will give me the following qualifications:

    • C&G 2382 17th edition of the IEE wiring regulations
    • C&G 2377 (inspection and test of portable electrical equipment)
    • Part P defined scope
    • C&G 2330 level 2 technical certificate in electrotechnical technology

The problem I have is that I can't find a firm whom will take me on to learn the trade and I do not want to have all these qualifications which I am unable to use to my full potential.
I do not drive a car but have a full motorcycle licence but due to finances at moment I can't afford driving lessons. Sorry to sound like a sob story.

I would give a chance to anyone who was struggling to find work if I had it, how is someone suppose to gain experience in their desired field if not given the chance??

As for the Electrician's Mate comment I was giving an example of how low I would go to gain the experience I badly need. I am living in Southend in Essex for the last comment on this forum, thanks..

Sorry to hear your plight Rob.

Unfortunately there are a LOT of guys like yourself out there right now, from the just qualified to the 20 years time served.

My only advice is to ring, e-mail, fax and drop in to every comapny within a 30 mile radius of you and once you've fininshed them all....start again. It really is tough out there at the mo but dedication and perseverance will pay off in the end.

Thanks that what I did a few weeks ago and I intend to do the same when I come back from my course next weekend. I will have more determination to succeed as can't go living on min wage for the rest of my working life..I am 30 and I need to be on a lot more money than what I am on now at the moment.

Hi robscoobs, I'm interested to know which course it is that provides you with all of these after just the second week.

I think it may be worth you filling in the blanks otherwise nobody will give you the deserved opportunity

I too am on a course but I have loads more to do in order to obtain my qualifications and I am already working with a couple of sparks.

I personally think that your biggest hurdle will be the full car license.

Have you or are you registered with any agencies? I'm not sure that there are many out there that specialise in just domestic as much of it is M&E but it's worth a go.

Good Luck, keep your head up and keep making the enquiries
