Have you tried phoning companies, posting CV's, sending e-mail with covering letters etc?
Asked friends to ask friends? (That's how I got a start).

You just got to get yourself out and about and sell yourself but if you have experience, transport and tools then I can't see you having too much trouble.

Persevere.
