Default Contract work in Afghanistan

Hi all
I rang company yesterday, spoke to a HR manager called Katy, about work in afghanistan. she said they are regularly loking for sparks for different contracts, out of all the trades electricians were most in demand she says. she has my Cv , she says the contracts vary, but usually 12 months long, some are 5 year rolling ones but the majority are 12, the shifts are 12 on 3 off and she says its a minimum of 53k sterling poss more depending on the contract, if you do 3 stints out there = 9 months then you can apply for the tax free option. everything provided for you and it sounds good, the basic salary is 32k min with danger money and allowances bumping it up to 53k
you go for an induction at there HQ once you are offered a contract where they tell you all security briefings and info.
i'm just waiting for the call now but sounds promising
my thoughts are pretty much that I dont want to go, but things being the way they are here now then I'll do the contract then with the money I've earned get myself a van advertise, pay for the part p membership and go self employed, hopefully there will be enough work in 12 months to support me as a new business

just thought you all might want to know that if all else fails they are still looking for people and paying **** loads of cash for a few months in a war zone

I'll buy an AK47 keep my eyes peeled!!

forgot to add, you need city and guilds 2330 and 17th edition mimimum, to be considered

So there is a chance of getting to blow stuff up and not having it frowned upon!

You don't have to go to afghan to blow things up, you can do things like that in cambodia..

£53k tax free isnt very much for going to Afghanistan.

Especially when you consider the danger your putting yourself in.
