Default Give Me a Chance

Hi all, advise and help needed!

I'm a Corporal in the British Army Royal Engineers, and have been for the last nine years. I have decided to leave the forces and at present I am re-training to become an electrician.

In May I will be released from the Army and will have completed my C+G 2330 level 2, (i'm also hoping to take my 17th edition and Part P before then). In september I start at a local college to begin the 2330 level 3 course and hope to be fully qualified by mid 2009, subject to gaining practical, on-the-job experience.

Here lies my problem. I am trying to gain employment through responding to advertisements and contacting local companies, but due to a lack of experience within the trade i'm getting no interest from anyone.

I have plenty of construction experience and bags of enthusiasm to become a electrician, which I think would be of great use to any employer, and can be backed up with several high profile references.

I'm 26, married and live in the Nottingham area but happy to travel anywhere within a resonable distance for work. I have a full driving licence including HGV. I realise that pay will not be great at my level but am prepared to work hard to gain knowledge and experience before moving up the ladder.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
