look guys what would you do if you were an employer?

pay an expeienced guy, or take a chance on training someone up who may leg it for an extra 10p per hour as soon as he's 'got some time in'?

you have to sell yourself as an attractive prospect

rememeber all any employer cares about is "can this guy make me money?"

sorry to be harsh, but with no driving licence - forget it

offer to work for nowt for a while to 'prove youself'

get out there and walk into the office of ABC Electrics

I get regular CV's through, sometimes by email

I generally read them for literally a few seconds

now a guy who nocks on my door and thrusts one into my hand........

It has been said before try agencies for work there not usually that fussy who they have just blag them. They will give you a few crap jobs at first but turn up every day and do the overtime (if any) and you will end up on a long term job. Have you got a cscs card as all jobs now are no card no job.

hi all just noticed this thread i too am doing 2330 level 3 im due to finish in june i already have 17th edition and starting 2391 in january.
a mate of mine who is an electrician got into the buying houses and renovating game. so i worked with him aswell as doing stuff in my own home. i have a full time job with a machining company so i was ding weekends. i now have all my own test equipment and am carrying out domestic work currently working on a big house extension and sorting out my enrolment for niceic domestic installer. making pretty good money as word spreads of my work through friends etc.

so my advice to anyone is just do the work. start in your own home and when confident enough start doing a bit for friends.
my next plan is to quit my job and do a mix of my own work aswell as get on agencies.
