I cant work out why the **** youire not agreeing with what im saying,
for industrial contractors the jib is the way electricians are graded ,and deamed compitent to carry out works on site ,thats the way it is,not ideal but just the way it is and will be for a long time to come ,the jib is a division of the eca who as i have already stated habve a lot more control over what goes on in the industry than some of you realise ,if you dont wish to belive that ,research it then comment

i dont think the jib is outdated and maybee needs to change its policys to suit modern working practices,

and as far as you are concerned,my trigger happy friend ,as ive said ,as far as i am concerned you should be classed as an electrician or electrical enginner .so please take your argument up with the jib as its them not me who say your not

Im off on a working holiday for 3 or 4 weeks ,so ill look forward to seeing if this thread resolves its self in the interim

all the very very best in the whole wide and happy wonderfull world enjoy yourselves
have a good one Rum and dont work too hard

I have:

HND and ONC Electrical & Electronic... oh yeah... and a BEng(Hons) degree
2391
2381
Indentured 4-year apprenticeship
I work as a sub-contractor to a NICEIC company as an electrician.

and still I probably couldn't get a jib without NVQ. I thought NVQ was a kind of qualification for 'remedial' type people just leaving school. It would be a totally worthless piece of paper to me.

I'm not a sparky then??

I was speaking to my boss about JIB cards. He said they're mainly if you want to work on a construction/building site (which I personally don't!). He's never needed one, I've never needed one. I don't want to work on a construction site because of all the other w@nkers stealing your tools, fighting, spitting, swearing non-stop. JIB sparkies are pretty low down the list as far as I can see. Scum.

Your BEng, HNC are both individually equivalent to NVQ lvl3 I believe, as an aside it is very rare these days for teachers to be fully qualified in the subject they lecture on
