Default Re: JIB Cards & NVQ level 3 is a joke!!!

The JIB was formed in the early days to distinguish contracting electricians whom could prove their skills in either qualification or put forward by their employer, which led to controversy. In effect it was really a protection racket, run and still is by powerful companies.
The Nicc is much the same...must be nicc approved to do the job, that is illegal. The JIB and nicc are not qualifing bodies.

No council can disqualify any person/company tendering for a job.
Of course in the real world nicc rules, if they say must be members then you have to be.

~It is bent beyond imagination

Nicc did not train me, they did not provide employment training, they did not provide employment opportunities. Yet they as a psudo electrical body can dictate...
They are far too powerful and must be stopped

in effect, do the 17th, ( easy ) do the part p more intense I aggree, join nicc hey presto you is a spark...it is a scandel

Warreng, you dont have to be a jib member to work on sites, you just need to do the health & safety exam cscs i think its called, its dead easy just commom sense, im a jib member and have been since i came out of my time when i was cards in, been self employed now for donkeys years, all jib membership does for me is give me a fancy plastic card that says approved electrician , and 16th edition on the back. (just enrolled for 17th)dont really know why i keep renewing it no one has ever asked to see it. Hope that helps dave

Hiya wattsup, i agree its scandalous that people can do the 17th edition, part p qualification, and join the nic, then certify domestic work. Same goes for them plumbers, kitchen fitters etc who get part domestic installer status, its all bollocks, plumbers & joiners dont know the first thing about electrical regulations but somehow manage to bull**** their way into self certifying, the amount of times i have seen **** work done by the aforsaid trades is beyond belief, anyway now i'll come off my high horse and go to bed, good night all dave.

Im JIB spark as JTL put me through the NVQ3 a while back, I agree with you and Shakey that JIB is a load of rubbish but that comment you made was a bit stupid was'nt it.

Jumbo ive just come across this post, and i must say for a clever guy ,youve got a lot to learn ,ive worked with all kinds of electricians and can honestly say the best ones have been jib card holders ,ive worked with plenty that havent got a card ,and theres been good and bad in both camps, but the guys at the top of my list are all JIB members,
ive never had any tools stolen by any Electrician ever, other trades yes/someone nicked a spanner once ,maybee im lucky ,but to have the attitude that jib sparks will steal your tools ,is plane stupid,
fighting ,only ever seen one on a site (2 irish labourers)so thats crap as well ,mind you with your attitude you will probably see a few more
wise up pal,the JIB has its faults, theres no denying that ,but its not the Electricians fault,
i would guess youve got a long list of people you refer to as scum, maybee its your karma,
but if i were you ,which im so glad im not ,i would open my eyes a bit wider and try and see people for what they are ,not judge them by which proffesional organisation they belong to,so catch yerself on before its too late

Please note this is the long polite response ,if there is anything you dont understand ,please feel free to post or pm me and ill explain it all in easier to understand terms
