Hi all,
this might seem a daft question ( mine usually are) but Having just passed my 2391 theory i need to book the practical and I am a bit confused about the sequence.
The only bit |I am confused about is the continuity of protective conductors. the way i do it is bonding to water and gas then link phase and cpc and measure at furthest point but then i cross link phase and neutral. The problem is I am sure I was told this was not nessasary and not one of the tests?
but the way I see it is it confirms continuity of neutral say in a lighting circuit or any radial.
Any ideas?

No point in checking neutral as it will get tested during functional tests.

are you confusing the continuity of ring final circuit conductors with continuity of protective conductors??

no on radial or lighting circuit.
r1 +r2 confirms phase and cpc but r1+rn would confirm neutral as a dead test

Just found this on the elecsa site and it confirms how I do it but I was told this was wrong so now really confused now.

2. Continuity of protective and bonding conductors
Reason: To check that all circuit protective conductors (green and yellow cables) are continuous and are present at every electrical accessory on the circuit. Also to check that the main earthing conductor and main bonding conductors are continuous and correctly connected.
Method 1: The line conductor is connected to the circuit protective conductor of the same circuit at the consumer unit and a measurement taken at ALL accesories on that circuit between line and c.p.c. The highest measurement obtained is recorded on the test report. Test result is R1 + R2. The line conductor and neutral conductor are then connected and the above repeated to obtain R1 + Rn
Method 2 (used for main earth and main bonding conductors): A wandering lead is connected to one end of the conductor to be tested and a measurement taken between the other end of this lead and the other end of the conductor. Test result is R2.
During this test polarity can be checked as well. The continuity of the neutral conductor can also be checked.

what you found on the elecsa site is correct

this is pretty basic stuff, and i'm surprised you passed without knowing it.

but anyway congrats on passing the 2391, it's normally a pretty tough exam - the practical is a walk in the park compared to the written exam so you should have no trouble
