    Default Cash Incentives...

Does REAL or MCS or whoever have any opinion on installers offering a li'l hand-warmers for recommendations? This tacky practice is occurring on a housing estate near me where Vital Energi Solar are offering £100 to their customers for any further recommendations leading to an install. The mainly elderly inhabitants are whizzing around on their zimmer frames pushing leaflets into their neighbour's hands... "Hey - we'll split it 50:50...!"

Loads of the big guys and some of the smaller guys do it - I've heard up to £500. We prefer to give the customer the best price in the first price and get more customers from personal recommendations because our customers are delighted with the service not bribed by their neighbours.

I don't think there's anything preventing it happen - it's just a choice you make.

If you do a quality job at a reasonable price you don't need to do it.... money down the drain and makes you look like a dodgy double glazing company imo.

95% of our jobs come from recommendations and we're not the cheapest but as one of our customers tonight emailed us and said "it was a very personal and professional journey, we felt as though we'd been throughly well looked after"

The sad thing is, it seems to work.

At least the customer involved here was being upfront about it and insisting it's split 50:50. However, when you are thinking of shelling out circa £10k, how on earth can you let £50 be a decider... (shakes head sadly)
