hi everyone
My mk1 Focus has developed the following electrical problems over a very short period of time (2 weeks). I can't believe that this is due to individual faults and was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the problem and if there is a fault in common easily fixed

Indicators failed initially but since then the following have been identified.
Windscreen/rear window demist failed
Rear window wiper failed
Washers failed front and rear
Dashboard lights failed
Intermittent front wiper failed
Radio fails to tune in
Warning sounds failed (when lights left on and door opened).
Interior light failing and comes on randomly
Heater on 1,2 and 3 failed. 4 works.
Possibly other problems not yet identified

Any help or sensible advice appreciated.

Thanks

All the above are controlled by the CTU (central timer unit) on early Mk1s (98 to 2001) or by the GEM (general electronics module) on later Mk1s (AKA Mk1.5).

Check all the plugs on it are secure and that there's been no water ingress, it's located behind the drivers footwell cowel cover, ie to the right of the accelerator pedal.

The heater only working on 4 is an extremely common fault on all focus', you need a new heater resistor pack. Remove the glovebox completely and it's up hidden behind there somewhere.

As for the radio, pop out the interior light and remove the aerial, you may find it's corroded, or where the sheild/ground connects to the car is corroded.

Gaz :)

(central timer unit) ... ... ... (general electronics module)

Oops, my mistake, they are called the "Central Timer Module" or "Generic Electronic Module". I just typed the above in a rush the other day, without checking it via google.
