Hi, can a 60a AC disconnect fuse box with 2 class K busman 50amp fuse work as a disconnect near the outlet ? Or would it need to be an actual breaker box, like an outdoor SPA GFCI breaker box?
The AC box says compatible with class H fuses. Class k and h are the same size.
Hello everyone...
There are a total of 4 cables entering the junction box at the top of the staircase.
Two 12/2 cables are coming in through the top of the box.
One 12/2 cable is coming through the bottom of the box, with a 12/3 cable coming through beside it.
The three 12/2 cables have...
Hi, I installed 6 recessed lights in my living room. I’m now up to the wiring part of the project. There is an outlet in the room that is half-hot. The switch just outside the room controls the bottom part of the outlet. The switch has 2 red wires and 1 black. The black is always hot and located...
20 Amp outlet (240v) appears to be connected to 30 amp breaker. Is this safe? Was hoping to use the outlet for an EV Charger. I am new to the house. thanks
DYI guy here with some basic knowledge of electrical craft. I am helping a buddy in his remodeled bathroom. His GFCI outlet was powered off vanity light and every time you shut off the light, the power of receptacle goes off. That makes sense.
What doesn't make sense is I moved outlet on other...
Mobile home outdoor power supply is a pedestal that power to the mobile home plugs in much like an RV. The main power supply into the mobile home plugs into a 50 amp outlet to the breaker box inside the trailer.
The central a/c unit was an add on that was installed before I bought the trailer...
This is probably an easy question for an electrician but I was just curious about the theory. (I'm trying to figure out how things work!)
I read that you can't plug too many things into one outlet. For example, you shouldn't plug in two power strips to the same outlet and then plug 10 things...
A simple outlet, 110v a single (2) outlets on the left side of the box, a spst switch on the right, with a single cover, covering them both.
The switch on the right controls an overhead light, and is unaffected since it's wired by itself. It merely shares the same box.
The outlet on the left...
Hello,
I live in Costa Rica, which adopted the US electrical code.
On a regular basis, during thunderstorms, I have parks coming out of the outlets and damaged devices, but no breaker ever flipped. I asked an electrician here and he told me everything is fine.
I looked into the wiring and found...
Folks,
Is there any hard or fast rule on what should be on a plug/fused outlet. I am aware portable equipment - plug 😂. I recently did a PAT and everything is on plug. Likely everything max of 13A. This includes the shutter motors which are fixed outside (plug inside of course). I don't see or...
My daughter asked me to replace a standard outlet on her porch with a GFCI outlet. We installed it correctly but were not able to get it to work. It turns out that there are already three GFCI bathroom outlets downstream of this location, so essentially we had a single GFCI outlet in series...
Is there such thing as a 2 Gang flex outlet plate, changing an existing heating system to a nest so no need for the programmer however it is by the boiler in the kitchen, they’ve cut in a 2 gang back box then screws through it anyway m, will need to use the flex to the boiler however the kitchen...
Hi guys , Happy 4th
I had a 15 amp breaker trip in my panel when my mother was running her sewing machine. She flipped the breaker back but later when i came home i wanted her to show me which one it was, she couldnt remember so i started flipping the breakers one by one. One of the breakers...
Our family room is part of an addition built a few years ago. We had an issue with nuisance tripping on an AFCI and the electrician came and replaced it saying the one we had was later found to be faulty. All was fine until I bought a new Denon receiver to replace an older Onkyo.
I plugged the...
I live in Thailand and my home has 240v, 3 phase power supply. I want to add an electric car charger but first want to determine what the outlet in the garage can handle so I can size the charger appropriately. The circuit breaker this outlet connects to is 16A. Does this mean the outlet is...
I have an existing but unused 50A disconnect on the side of the house. It had been connected to an AC unit that got replaced. It has just 3 wires run to it - hot, hot, and ground. I want to repurpose it for an RV hookup, using a Nema 14-50R receptacle. However, that receptacle requires a...
They are all connected to the same live "hot" wire, but only the outlet connected to the red wire will work.
Here is a image and a drawing of the wiring. [Yellow = Hot], tested using multimeter.
If anyone has any idea, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you.
I replaced a single pole to exterior lights with a smart switch. Next to it is a 3way to my foyer light. The foyer and the smart switch to exterior works. However I seem to have killed the power to an exterior outlet. In order to get the switch to work, I had connect the red switch pigtail...
