Hello! I have a high-pressure compressor equipped with a single phase motor! The motor have 2 capacitors, 1 continuous and 1 for starting, with a relay for isolation . The motor is old, but it's still working! I have changed the capacitors with new ones and the cable too. The motor work ok! I...
Objective: allow fast charging of EV (22 KW)
DNO cutout has 3 100A fuses, but all 3 turned out to be on the same single phase
How to still obtain 22 kW for fast charging of EVs?
Rotary phase converter? Switched on only when needed?
Other approaches?
I went along this morning to quote for an EVCP install.
I thought it was a domestic house but it was a B@B. It has a 3 phase supply. I always pass on commercial or 3 phase as it is outside of my remit. However, I am toying with the idea of fitting this EVCP IF I can fit it from a single phase...
Hi there thanks for helping if you do, but was wondering on testing r1+r2 on a 3 phase distribution board could I link out L1,L2,L3 to earth and there for take all my reading that way ?
Hi everyone
There is a switch board which is single phase, but when you look at the back you will see 2, 16mm cable go to the fuse(red and white). What is that for ? I haven't seen before.
And the black and blue cable goes to the service neutral link !!!
In Australia 3 phase color is Red White...
I've been watching Residual Current on youtube (great vids and great bloke btw) and really love watching the more industrial/commercial side of things.
Are there any resources that teach how 3 phase works? Even college syllabuses seem to be very light on 3 phase stuff.
How do people learn this...
Hello everyone, I really hope this isn't an idiot question but boy, I'm out of my depth! I've spent about 3 weeks (not solid mind) trying to work out how to size a generator to power a lathe for a test.
Situation is, I'm buying a house in Wales (UK) with a restored lathe in it. It's 3 phase...
Hi All
I haven't done any 3 Phase work for some time but I have just been asked to wire up a new woodworking workshop.
There will be 6 - 7, 3 pahse machines all ballanced load machines (4 pin plugs, 3 ph & e)
3 - 4 single phase machines, 2 x 32A ring socket cicuits and a couple of lighting...
I am in the middle of installing a new 3 phase system for a small bakery production area, new building, 200 KVA supply in total. 200 TP for workshop plus 4 separate 60 amp single phase supplies for new flats above new workshop building. Checking with UK Power Networks they inform me that the...
Hello. I bought an old three phase compressor but it has come without a starter switch. Just five cables, two for the pressure switch and three for the three phases.
I have a DOL starter switch, but I don't know how to wire it to make the compressor come on and off with the pressure switch...
Hello all, I recently was asked to quote a three phase motor install within a pallet factory. To be honest, I was somewhat stumped in how to attack it as the sheer size and the control cabinet was gigantic. Although I'm mainly a domestic, commercial spark, this was somewhat out of my league. The...
I have been asked to fit a 3 Phase 32 amp socket in a refrigerated area thats under construction. The cables will be on the walls and then a lining company is to come in and install 100mm thick panels 30mm from the wall all over to create a insulated box. inside the unit. The panel guys will...
Hi all
I am looking at three phase conversion options for my workshop I have looked at rotary converters
and I have also looked at static and digital conversion options what I'm wondering is does anyone have a digital converter from the only manufacturer that makes them. Drives Direct is the...
doing my am2 this week and forgot to ask at my prep day about phase rotation, will I need to do it on the incoming supply
also will I need to it anything else like the motor or three phase commando socket
don't touch 3Phase a lot so abit unsure
Regarding 3 phase IR tests for initial verification, I'm wondering how people actually do it efficiently.
GN3 says to IR test between all phase permutations, then:
L1+L2+L3 connected together to N
L1+L2+L3 connected together to E
N to E
The OSG further comments that if the group test to earth...
Was testing a EV charge point today and noticed the internal RCD was TP device with only a single phase supply and load in use (L1).
There was 245V either side of the RCD but the test button didn't function.!!
Is it possible the test button is fed from one of the phases that is not used...
Hello, wanting to install a new (old) MCCB in an Dorman Smith Loadline board, found a couple online, however, the client ordering the works is not keen on installing old breakers, so they would rather us connect tails onto the busbar stubs where the breaker would usually be, fashion some kind of...
Hi, I have been asked to fit a 32a isolator ready for an air con unit and picked one up from screwfix. Unfortunately the one I have is a 4 pole, can this still be used with 6mm t&e or do I need to replace it with a 2 pole. If it can be used do I just use terminals L1 & T2
Thanks
