Iv got an assessme t coming up and need a few bits clearing up.. firstly. My knowledge on motors and control circuits are pretty slim as i dont often get the chance to fault find and work in this environment..

In an upcoming assessment i have to install a DOL starter to an induction motor.. my issue is the control circuit.. a stop and start with a remote stop. I believe the start has a holding contact so ot doesnt drop out.. sound right ?. I guess there will be a NC in and out on the contactor for this ?..No doubt il have a wiring diagram to work off but id like to do what i can to be on the ball prior to this.

Thanks.

basically simple. control comes from supply, either off the incoming feed directly or through a TX. as elv. through stop buttons wired in series int the start button then onto the coil. the hold-in contacts are in parallel with the start button.

If you Google 'DOL starter schematic' you will get lots of images you can look at.
I would post some up for you but I can't attach anything on the works comp.

The DOL starter used in the assessment should have a wiring schematic etched onto the inside of the lid. I don't think they will be that harsh. Most sparks over here just know how to run catenary wire.

Klokner Moeller used to publish a very handy wiring manual with diagrams for just about every motor control circuit known to man.

**edit** It's now just called the Moeller/Eaton wiring manual and it's available from the Eaton website; Eaton - Wiring Manual
