hi guys,,i have connected a timer fan to already switched bathroom lights,to the permanent live and neutral.its showing 240 but not working.i just want the fan to come on,not fussed about the timer.i have used twin and earth..would it work if i put a link between the live and permanent live..any help appreciated,many thanks

sorry wilko,,i am not at work,,i have just come off the end light,,five spots in the bathroom,,so basically they are switched,,its a timer fan,so live,permanent live and neutral,,i conected a twin and earth to the perm and neutral,but it doesnt work,even though there is power,,cheers mate
 
Yes it'll definitely work as you've suggested but strictly speaking there ought to be a means of isolation just for the fan so that it can be maintained safely without having to switch the lights off.
 
Use the switched live linked across the perm live and switched live terminals on the fan and the fan will come on with the lights and go off when they are switched off. Forget the perm live wire, you don't need it.

your so right dave, but they wont pay,a bit of safe isolation at the board will have to do this time.thanks mate
