Ok folks. Are there any good makes of tools manufactured in the U.K? Would be good to get a feel for what might still be left out there. I suspect that what few companies that are left may be selling in name only with manufacturing being done on the cheap in China.
Anyone aware of any small start ups for instance that could be recommended on here?

King Dick in Birmingham are still producing I think....
I still have a few King Dick tools I bought in the 1980's, pretty good stuff.

That's it - I'm sold on ITL - my draper expert handles wanted to detach themselves from the tool the other day and I wasn't impressed, wouldn't have got that with an injection moulded handle. I'm going to get a piggy bank and start saving. Who's with me, we may make Britain great again.

Fisco tape measures are made here and some of Starrett's stuff is still made here. There's a whole list of companies that have joined this scheme....

Just looked through my own tools, could only find three items that say "Made in England". An old Record vice, an antique Dee Gee soldering iron and an antique Eclipse junior hacksaw. Record and Eclipse (now Spear & Jackson) have since moved production abroad. :(

Gaz :)
