Discuss BT Home Hub 5 question in the Computer and Networking Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

O

Octopus

So this weekend I set up the changes on our hub so that the kids can't use the wifi after 9.30pm or before 7am

All goig to plan until my son spots I've done this and simply uses the BT app on his phone to log into the BT with Fon "free access" wifi

So they go and allow "parental" controls to be set up then there is a way to use the wifi - DOH!!

I can't see any obvious way to turn off the BT with Fon on the router set up/software.

Ideas/suggestions please

Thanks

a kick up the arse coupled with the threat to cut the plug off the router might work.

either put parental lock on the kids' phones or change the router wi-fi password and don't let them know it.

You need to opt out of this service via BT's website mate. I had a nightmare trying to remember my password to do mine.

Been on a tech chat with BT:

"The BT FON cannot be disabled for just one devices, however we can opt out from BT FON if you dont use it from
chat_hyperlink.png
http://www.bt.com/btwifi when you are not using it. If you want to use it back you can opt in back from the same website."

How stupid is that!!!

That’s cos anyone with a BT hub router is actually providing a wireless access point for other BT customers. Eg BT with phon - so your router is most likely providing the connection

One way to solve
Change provider, set up access times based on mac addresses
