Hello, my name is Martin and I'm from Sweden. I studied for 3 years in Sweden to become an electrician and I've now had my Swedish diploma compared to the UK standards by the UK Naric. Since I'm moving to London to move in with my English girlfriend and will try to find a job as an electrician there. They've come back to me saying I've got a "BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Electrical Engineering" and so I've been reading on what you need to be an electrician in England and really all I can find is that you need to do your "NVQ Diploma". If I've gotten this right I would get this by working a certain amount of hours as an elecrician. Though I've only worked 6 weeks as an electrician through school I have been studying full time in school for 3 years.
Really I just want to know how to go on with my now "BTEC Diploma" to carry on to become an electrician. Do I need to do an apprenticeship or do I only need to do my "NVQ hours"
Cheers Martin.
