Discuss Code for Armour of Swa not being earthed... in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

3 core Swa feeding ip rated plastic sockets outdoors.
He 3rd core of the Swa has been used as a cpc but the armour is not connected to earth; but has been made off with metal banjos. Would this warrant a C2 or C3? I'm assuming as the armour isn't extraneous a C3? ?
Thoughts please ...

If there is good earth continuity of the SWA at the furthest point of the circuit and all swa glands are tight then I would go for a no code , I would only code 3 it if I thought by adding an earth continuity lead would improve the earth continuity considerably or felt that the SWA glands could start to fail in the near future do to corrosion etc

what's to investigate?
He's already established it's not earthed.

If the supply end of the SWA is terminated into a metal enclosure which may well be connected to earth but not very well ,further investigation may be needed to ensure a decent connection, IMO but then I was always careful, to be sure, to be sure.

Not in the new colours in a three core , they are all phases.
The new convention that seems to have been adopted is to over sleeve the black for the earth in single phase.
