My parents run a shop and have several chillers and freezers. the sockets are in an area which customer frequently walk past and it appears someone is getting a kick of turning them off.
we have lost 2 freezers worth of goods now.

We have covered the sockets with a crisp stand but it is still very easy to put a hand behind and flip a switch as you leave the shop.

the sockets cannot be moved.

Can anyone recommend a way of securing the sockets?
my heart hopes there is a lockable plate or something similar that can be placed over the socket. However my head tells me that the socket must be easily accessed.

any adivce (apart from a cctv camera and a bat) much appreciated.

You could fit an non switched Fused spur in place of the socket or alternatively you could install the socket in a lockable box, the first option is the easiest, but if,as you think someone is deliberately switching the socket off, there is always a chance the villain could remove the fuse, contact a local Electrician he could source and fit a lockable box and socket fairly easily.

You could also look at temperature monitoring, either stand alone or the controllers may have the option built in to talk to a panel/alarm contact.

The other way would be to have a power fail alarm set up

much appreciated chaps .. .will let them know the options .... dont want to be spending the earth but something simple will do the trick ...

regarding the fitting of anything we purchase ... we have a commerical sparks living on site who will fit it for a case of beer so there is no need to worry about me trying to fit anything!
