Evening chaps!!

I'm after a bit of advice, I'm booked to do a job the weekend. The client has brought a new dual cooker/hob, the company who was to install it refused due to the cooker switch now being above the hob. I have not seen the job yet but apparently running a new 6mm to the correct position is not possible for whatever reason. I have been told there is a cupboard less than a foot away, is it acceptable to make a joint in the back box above the hob covering with a metal blank plate and reposition the switch in the cupboard??

Any help/ideas on this will be greatly appreciated

wot 'e said^^^^^^. provided that you bury the cable to the new position in the wall.
