Anyone know how to bid on this?

Just looked at a local councils current tender. Its due for review in November 2011. Current company has had it for many years. Are these potentially unbreakable contracts between councils and said companies.

Was just about to say.....The person who hands out the contracts allegedly has a relative working for said company....

T be honest unless you are NIC fully approved I wouldn’t botherputting pen to paper. I used to have abusiness in a different part of the country that I am now living in, and mycompany was (unofficially…becausecouncils should not show preferances) the councils preferred contractor forcertain jobs, when tender time came along I was old what to put into all theboxes. If I hadn’t moved areas, I wouldprobably still be working for them.

We can all argue the rights and wrongs about the abovestatement, but that’s my experience.

I can fully understand that there probably is a preference to certain companies in terms of winning council contracts. Afterall the guy who gives the contracts out can probably be seen on a friday night in a local boozer being entertained by these said companies. This is how it works in every establishment.

I'm trying to get in with a builder who gets major contracts, but current spark is his 'mate' always in the pub together etc.....really annoying...but thats the way of the world

Councils up here seem to be going with Bigger and bigger companys Carrilion FES ect who offer all trades wraparound service hence the crud hit the fan when ROC went belly up and cohnourt as the council had new builds maintenance extension and refurb projects with these firms It use to be down to who had the best holiday villa and where you took them to the football ect but now adays with so much council corruption from the pastt they want to be seen to be squeeky clean

I think you ve got to write in and register to be a contractor with them first.
I was chatting with the local housing association guy and she told me to do that to get the ball rolling.
