I'm pretty sure I've checked this a while back with the NICEIC but I'd like to double check. I'm carrying out EICR work on a few properties , and am currently in a debate with a lady who says I should be registered with a governing body to carry out the testing. I said she's talking rubbish. As long as I only fill in the green NIC sheets I'm fine yes? I refuse to pay them fees as I'm only a small company and can't see any advantage in it. But anyway that's another matter.

what he said ^^^^. the only requirement is that you are competent to carry out the EICRs. (having 2391 or 2395 would be advantageous but not necessary).

Is the lady in question a customer ? Is she under the impression, as a lot of the public are, that if you are not registered with a scheme you are not to be trusted or employed ?
If she will listen, set her straight on the ins and outs of what schemes actually do, including qualification levels etc. I always find that satisfying.

Yes mate that's exactly what she thinks. I've explains the qualifications required etc. Quite frustrating for tradesmen like myself who chose not to be part of a governing body. As a communist the last thing I want to be doing is lining the pockets of the fat cats. Haha
