Hello I have taken and passed my 236 Pts one and two in Electrical Installations (17th edition)
I have also taken my 2391 in Electrical Inspection and Testing (passed)
I have also taken my Level 3 Certificate for the 16th Edition of the IEE wiring regulations for Electrical Installations (238 001) (Passed)
I have taken my Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations in 2008 (2382-10) (Passed)
But I have not got my ECS card as of yet as I have been an Inspector / Tester and never been asked for it before.
I took my ECS test last year and passed it.
Do i also need to take my AM2 test to get my ECS card ???
Oh and I have been an Inspector and Tester for the last 10 Years also.

Best way is to contact the JIB about gradings. You usually need your AM2, but you might find yourself in the ridiculous situation of also needing a NVQ3.
As said, best to contact them directly.

Done my ECS test nearly two years ago and I've never really bothered looking into mine either. Not been on site a huge amount of my working life, and not for near on two years.

Got 2330 levels 2&3, 2382, 2391. Due to the fact I didn't do a site diary or am2, and an not working towards it, I think they'd only give me a trainee level 1 or 2. Which I don't want. Which is a shame.

With all those qualifications they'll probably give you a labourer's card. Trainee if you're lucky. The reason being you haven't got that all-important NVQ3.
I sent them a copy of my 2391 certificate and they downgraded me from trainee to labourer.

Apparently you can argue the case with them, but according to their website and a recorded message on their phoneline they're really busy at the moment.

You got to remember that the option of doing the site diary and completing the apprenticeship isn't always open to people at the time and it doesn't make you a better spark having taken a few pictures and done the am2.

Also, if you're under the illusion that someone who hasn't done one assessment for a few hours and had a few pictures pictures taken of them will never be more than a stage 1 or 2 trainee, then you've lost the plot.

I'd say the NVQ3 is harder for some people than it is for others - for apprentices on the cards everything seems to get set up for them. If they need to take a picture of a fault or some testing, their employer will set that up for them so they just have to go through the motions and then get handed a gold card on a silver platter at the end of it.
For someone who is trying to do it them self working through agencies you do whatever work you're given, which if you haven't got a gold card could well be just installing containment or second fixing sockets and switches for a year.
