went to a house today, it was a tt system with no rcd protection anywhere. Ze was 143ohms, Zs on a socket ring was a bit better. mcbs were old bs 3871 push button conversations. thing is, the overhead supplying the house had been replaced about 4 years ago, nice new service head ripe for a PME upgrade. I know it's not their job but come on.

I know but when I explained it to the chap and he said to me " well why didn't they just tell me to get It done while they were here " I didn't have an answer for him. how would I tell if their was a earth provide, I'd expect to have to get the dno out or can I open it up and have a look if theirs a link between the N and E?

edit; even if their is a link I would be happy about just assuming it was OK to shove my earth in their.

I know they don't. but while they were their, if they gave a ----, they could have just said, oh buy the way sir if you want to get a local electrician in their's an earth connection available now. As it is their is no earth fault protection.
