In a house I have run 6x cat5 cables to 6x locations from a central point.
I was going to have a 6way switch at the central point with the 6x cat5 plugged into this by rj45 plug's
and then on the other end of the 6x cables have rj45 socket outlets

am I right in thinking if I then plug the router into one of the sockets with a patch lead (rather than the 6way switch)- would this liven up the network with the other 5 points working?

I know it would make more sense to plug the router into the switch directly- but customer now does not want the router where the switch is and wants it in the hall (where one of the rj45 sockets is)

cheers guys!
