Hey all
how many of you started as domestic installer after assessment then year 2 went approved contractor and wish they'd went approved before instead of domestic installer ?

Just asking as if you get approved contractor your exempt from onsite assessment for domestic installer and you are open for more work was just prepping for DI assessment and was told after chat into past quals etc although this shouldnt matter its your comp thats on test ! id be better going for approved contractor. just asking other peoples views as ive heard from NICEIC most people wish they'd gone AC instead of DI.

Indeed, although you do still have an assessment.

I think it lasts up to 2 days and you have to have around 5 jobs available for inspection including commercial and industrial etc.

I also think you have to have been a DI or similar for a number of years/months before you can apply.

Only what i can remember i think.

hi all

i applied for approved contractor at the start, they wanted to see 5 jobs in total in a day visit. Jobs i showed were 2 x domestic, 1 x agriculture, 1 x industrial and 1 x commercial. It depends on what your buisness does really.

hope this helps
cheers
