finding it all abit confusing, i live in scotland, ive completed my college work, but not sat my FICA , currently out of work and trying to get my foot back in the door, ive never been one for holding onto paper documents so have no idea where i would begin to look for my qualifications, any advice?

You would almost certainly need to sit a H&S exam in order to get an ECS card, there are a few exceptions for prior training but these are limited.
If you do not have your qualification certificates then you should go back to your training provider and see if they have copies available (no doubt for a price).
As you have not yet completed your training you would be limited on your choice of card type but should be able to get a trainee card if you are still in training.

thanks for your reply, i was in a similar situation in my 2nd year and was off for nearly two years, but my new employer took me on and got me back into college, what i seem to be having problems with is applying for agency work, its annoying because im basically fully competent and able to work on my own without issues, i think im going to have to just do mate work until i can sit my FICA, will have to fork it out of my own pocket though , doubt an agency would put me through that.
