Hi guys,

I'm testing a communal area of flats, just lighting circuits mainly and in the board they go to a timer and then off out to lights etc. And all lights are on push switches or pneumatic switches. But I can't get any insulation resistance reading. It's like 0.13meg

Is it the switches and the timers in the board bringing it down I'm guessing? And is there an easy way of getting a reading

Thanks

maybe just IR test with L/N shorted and test to E.

Have you disconnected the outoing cable from the board LN&CPC and carried out the IR tests?

Haven't disconnected anything yet as the board is very congested and the terminals are tiny at the bottom of the timers. I was hoping there was maybe a work around. I guess I'll have to disconnect them and IR it

That would be my option

What voltage were you using with the timers etc still in circuit?

I've done it now and it's all good thanks. Just being lazy and was hoping there was an easier option lol.

500v, it's as low as the fluke tester I've been given to use will go. Only has 500v and 100v options

Are any of the electronics fried due to sticking 500v across them?
