Hi guys,

Firstly, hello :seeya:, new to the forum.

Have been asked recently to carry out an EICR for a couple of mobile classrooms so knowing that they're a special location, spent a while trawling the forums for previous threads on the subject but not much information to be had. Did suss that the NIC used to offer a dedicated cert for Transportable Buildings but this has now been integrated with the EICR for Small Installations Not Exceeding 100A. Managed to browse over a copy and it has the section for supply characteristics and particulars of the origin. Now being a transportable building these details would obviously change per site, so is this something that needs agreeing as a limitation and leaving blank? Bearing in mind that the person asking for the work is the company supplying the classroom not the owners of the site it is currently at. To what extent can the actual unit install be tested? Can any live test results be recorded due to location changes? Would only dead tests and a visual inspection suffice? It's a little vague to me so any help or advice would be appreciated.

I do a lot of similar testing for a static caravan sales firm, I check over and test second hand units. I agree LIM as dead testing only and highlight this on cert in many places, also place sticker with test date on cu with next date put as AT NEXT SITING. Biggest thing I find is if you have lpg in unit plumbers often alter pipework by disconnecting bonding

You could do all dead tests and the rcd test (depending on the temp supply) as the values of the rcd trip times will not change. You will not be able to conduct the Ze and PFC tests as obviously these will vary depending on the location of the new site.

We do similar for exhibition trailers. We carry out dead tests and put a separate page with each certificate basically saying that earth fault loop impedance and RCD testing must be done on each connection to site.

That goes with the trailer.

It's how portacabins come.

We buy the paper transportable condition reports, from NIC EIC, as it's the only version we can get them in and fill them in by hand.

Interested to read you say they don't do them any more as they are so much different then the standard condition report.

Thanks for your replies, it's been discussed with the client and agreed that dead tests and a visual wil be sufficient. Seems so BrightSpark, the link to purchase the TCN4 cert was broken so searched through the NIC store and they had this notice in the DPN7 cert description -
This report also now replaces the following specialised certificates and should be used instead of :

 • Domestic EICR
 • Modular Dwelling EICR
 • Leisure Accomodation Vehicle EICR - LPN
 • Highway EICR - HPN
 • Transportable Building EICR - TPN

Bad decision that.

I've still got some paper ones left yet so not to worry.
