Eicr retrospective problem fault

I know, am more curious, not just about this, but where u stand if people alter stuff after you've certified it, be it any kind of certificate.....

Don't forget that you do not certify any installation with an Electrical Installation Condition Report - you merely report on its condition. It is not a certificate.

your eicr schedule of test results, will show the system has been altered, ie 2 x radials now a rmf, in effect showing a spare cct now.Theres your starter.

Give him the cost of another eicr, then price to rectify... win win for all

I'd tell this jerk to defaecate in his hat and punch it. He isn't your customer. You did an EICR and at the time all was OK. There's then a change of owner, major works and suddenly it's your fault. Crazy!

I had a former customer complain that a board change I did was faulty 2 years after doing the work and certifying it. Transpired the fault was his DIY made electrical appliance that had a fault and kept tripping the RCBO. The NICEIC just laughed.

On the course I have just completed, we were advised to photograph the installation especially if it is a new customer.
Keep them digitally numbered to match the EICR and they can form a defence.

Good advice. The on-line Elecsa/NIC on-line software allows your to upload pics to the cert'. You can choose whether or not to add to the cert' you give you client, but always stay with filed cert.

Ask your client to get the "new sparky" to provide paperwork for the work he did, see what he says, bet it all goes quiet.

A little while back, I found two circuits which were linked.
Turned out to be due to interlinked smoke detectors.

Back feed on which circuits bet they have been worked on and they have messed up !

You Inspected and Tested the instalation back then and reported your findings on the EICR !

Had the same thing a few years ago they could not switch off the lights at the MCB

Fault found at the down stairs 2 gang light switch which had been replaced and got the feeds for up & down mixed up causing the problem then they blamed the decorator!
