Asked to price up some work further to a PI being carried out.

I called in yesterday for a quick chat.
The EICR has multiple C1, 2 and 3 recorded but still satisfactory overall.

They have a 9.8 @ 240 (9.0 @ 230) shower in a ladies toilet wired in 6mm singles and protected by a 40a MCB that was given a C1 due to cables being melted at MCB terminal.
Live snipped and left floating.
Their Recommendation; rewire circuit with 10mm and change MCB to RCBO. 10m run

The single phase mc board supplying the circuit also had 4 SWAs glanded and bolted to its base.
There was no tags from the bolts to the earth bar.. Coded C2.

No RCD protection for sockets throughout building.. C1
Missing consumer blanks.. C2. Still missing.

I am going back next week to go through the report, should be interesting.

The electrical company (member of all scams) explained that despite the 1s and 2s the installation is still ok..

Write a letter to facilitate the recipient of the EICR getting a refund. Refer to the passages in the regs and GN3 that render this report useless and the person who carried it out incompetent. The coding errors can be tackled by reference to the ESC EICR guide. Encourage the client to complain to the scheme if they get no luck with the contractor, and offer your help in doing so.
These clowns need to learn that they cannot get away with it. It's incompetent at best, and at worst fraudulent.

I think that's the way its probably going to end up going.
Was only there for a short while on Friday so we only had a brief chat.
The other company have submitted the EICR along with quotes for many remedial works.
I'm shooting myself in the foot as I will be doing myself out of remedial works..

This type of thing seems to becoming more common, you are right they can't get away with it, whether it's due to incompetence or crookedness.

Now that sounds highly suspicious, why would any company pay out annual member fee's to all of the Scam providers??

I haven't got a clue but come next week they will need to be explaining what's gone on.
going back next week to scrutinize the EICR and determine what remedial work actually needs doing.
I'm thinking it's more likely down to incompetence but then more senior members of the company have compiled the report and then submitted the quotes

Absolute joke... Overall satisfactory with C1 & C2 departures recorded and to top it the observation codes attributed to the departures highlighted are incorrect. Just shows you how dangerous a little knowledge really is!! Hope his indemnity insurance is active...he may need it!!

even with blanks fitted some DBs could fall into c1 as blanks can be removed without tool

Thats my point entirely it warrants a C1 and sorting straight away yet matey boy gives it a C2 and walks away from it as is.... then charges for the privilege of the report he's cobbled together. [emoji35][emoji35]
