Hello,

I have beens asked to do wiring in a new shop and there is a currently a consumer board supplying the building with all wires removed by another Electrician.

I have been told that the owner of the building wants a sub main fitted with a meter to tell them what electricity is being used.

So my question is can I just run a 25mm swa cable from the current board on a 100A single phase supply about 6m away and then fit a new sub board with a 100a main switch and 2 63A rcds. There are going to be 3 32a ring mains (not fully loaded as is clothes shop) and 4 6a lighting circuits. All lighting is Led and will have a small kitchen with microwave and fridge but no cooking appliances.

Are you saying that the original board is not going to be used any more, and the new board 6m away is going to be used instead?

I would run 16mm swa cable has a sub feed to 6 way 100amp mains switch split board in the shop.
100 amp switch 63 mcb sub board for that ,and leave the meter where the cut out is or have meter put in the shop. the question before, consumer board supplying the building all wires removed.
is the shop under some flats above,a bit vague

Buzz, you need to really explain what the situation is very clearly, we're having trouble understanding the layout of your posts, i.e. they don't make sense, as such.

Thanks for the replys and sorry about the confusion.

Currently in the building there is a 100a 3ph board which was originally running a large barn but now the majority of the building is being leased from the owners.

The owner wants to hold on to a small part of the building which is were the 3ph board is situated and person leasing will not have access to this board.

I have been asked by the owner to fit a sub main board in the person leasing the buildings side. And also fit an electric meter so that they know what the lease holder is using so they can be charged accordingly.

I have completely rewired this 200sqm building myself to include all lighting, sockets and new board and putting in supplies for alarm panel and security alarm and also all cabling for emergency lighting.

Sorry just informing that the building was a bare building with no cabling currently there so I had to wire everything.

If you are supplying the shop from a 100A fuse in the main 3 phase board then you can run (subject to installation method) 25mm² SWA to the new meter you are installing with appropriate cable covers and then feed the shop board from this.
As it is a shop and only a few circuits an RCBO board may be more appropriate to avoid inconvenience power outs.
I do not have a 3ph board diagram but this seems to cover it (assuming the first board was 3ph)
