Fluke T110 fail self test

I noticed my fluke T110 voltage tester was giving some strange readings. It's now randomly failing the self test (touch the probes together for continuity check)

Is this a Common issue?

As @telectrix suggests, check the batteries. My T150 acted a bit strange when the batteries were on their way out.

changed the batteries. There is a battery indicator on it so I would have thought that is designed to illuminate before the battery life gets low enough to cause problems?

What sort of thing is it doing? I read a thread on here a while back about someone having a problem with the connection of the lead at the main body of the tester.

it wasn't reading continuity between neutral and earth or at least most of the time it wasn't.

Its failing the self test

and the "left" light keeps illuminating when im testing line to earth.

also sometimes its reading 50v rather than 240 volts on lighting circuit

I wouldn't worry too much about the left phase indicator, it's having a guess, mine does it, but the rest of it sounds like a broken lead.

Still in warranty?

I've just read my T110 instructions (cough first time!);

What part off the 'self test' does yours fail?

The 'left & right' lights are for 3 phase sequence rotation, so I would ignore these lights for anything else.

As regards, voltage readings, never been convinced of the indicated results from these types testers, but there seems a big disparity with yours?

I would contact Fluke for advice.

if you touch the probes together its supposed to light up the continuity light and an audible confirmation that there is continuity. Sometimes it works and sometimes it dont

Can't get in contact with the supplier I purchased it from. Looks like they have gone out of business. Fluke say the tester is an unserviceable item, has to be replaced. Better chuck it in the bin then

Well that's naff. When buying a reputable tester from the likes of fluke you expect it to out last you.

yep. Its probably out of warranty anyway. It looks like I purchased it last april. Its hardly been used really.

I checked with a multi meter and there is no continuity between the 2 probes

get it opened up; check soldered connections of the leads inside, and the continuity of each lead, tip to PCB.
