Discuss Fox Hunting in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

I don't really have a problem with you hunting with a gun Damian and as far as I'm aware that isn't illegal. I'm guessing you're a good enough shot to get a clean kill with a minimum of suffering for the animal. One second it's awake, aware and enjoying it's life, the next second it isn't.

Yes, the purpose of shooting rabbit and pigeon is clear. It's pest control. The farmer benefits because his crops are preserved, we as consumers benefit from cheaper produce and I benefit because I get to eat tasty rabbit stew! Three birds killed with one stone, or cartridge even :)

This though is far removed from hunting a fox for fun with dogs that upon capture will rip it limb from limb for no purpose other than for some toff to have a blow on his horn.

We as reasoned and logical people can see the distinction between the two, however many people can't!

One bunch of clowns that regularly make me laugh are the live animal export protestors! Ok in time gone by the conditions in those trucks was pretty poor indeed but nowadays the amount of legislation in place surrounding live animal exports makes them pretty darn comfortable!

The temperature of transportation units has to be within given values, the amount of space per animal is tightly controlled, the amount and type of food for the animals on their journeys has to comply with a gazillion different EU directives. Did you know for example that European Commission animal welfare laws concerning the air quality and temperature on transportation units far exceeds the statutory standards set down for passengers on the London Underground! We literally have less rights on our trains than animals do on their journey to be killed! Lol! Yet people still protest!

Barmy if you ask me!

Badgers are pests they cause cattle to get tb and quite recently one attacked a fella as he wandered home from a night out. It came out of the ditch and attacked him, breaking his ankle. He currently is laid up at home with plates and pins in his ankle.

Hunt badgers instead

just thought i'd take the thread off topic as trev is too slow and geordie's probably sleeping.

whatever happened to the age-old custom of hunting totty?

I've got two of these beer mats which occupy the top two places of my two beer mat collection.

I've shot, fished, ferreted etc as long as I can remember and for just as long as I've lived on the principle of no suffering/ clean shots only etc. As far as I can see fox hunting with dogs is not compatible with that belief and I have no desire to see rid of the ban....that and I'm sure there are more pressing matters that should be being sorted in parliament

Why is a Halal slaughter allowed to carry on, its far more barbaric than fox hunting.
Its illegal under EU laws not to stun apparently.
They don't stun as they believe it kills the animal (idiots).
Still mustn't upset the 'religion of peace' population.

I said this year's ago. Got accused of being racist by a bunch of nitwit progressive liberal types.

My views; screw Muslims and their make believe man in the sky. If I had my way, halal meat would be banned in the UK with immediate effect. Don't like it, bugger off to somewhere where it's legal.

I would also ban halal slaughter. However, I'd ban kosher slaughter too as the 2 methods are very similar, funny how no one ever mentions the kosher method.
It has to be said though that slaughter methods are irrelevant to the original thread.

Absolutely, what sort of god would want his animals to suffer.

Totally agree!

Its not irrelevant, when the post is about animal cruelty (isn't it)?
What's the difference ffs.

Heard through the grapevine the Back bench Tories are pushing the front bench regarding trying to get it legal again, thoughts?
The OP Mick.
It's more to do with the tories and their hypocrisy/how they look after their own than anything else. What we'd class as normal people don't do this sort of thing as they can't afford to keep horses and a bloody great pack of dogs bred specifically for this purpose. Therefore the government don't give a damn about what we think.
