fuse box tripping

hy there for some strange reason all last night my fuse box kept tripping out for no reason everything plugged in is normal nothing added or overloaded but my trip flicks back off after few mins so theres still a problem , i have everything off in the house and it still wont stay on any ideas what can cause this random problem or anything i can test

From your post it sounds like you have an RCD which is tripping, with everything off do you mean everything unplugged from your sockets, or all switched off?

yes done that everything is unplugged and lights switched off but its still wont stay on ?

both switched off and unpluged , the rcd it looks like a plug switch can i pull this out and swap with another to see if the switch is faulty or is that a no go

Central heating, is it on a spur unit? any outside lights? just to get things right is the whole fuse board "tripping out" or is it just one circuit?

sorry ye just one circuit , it has living room lights and sockets also utility lights and sockets thats all its strange

One circuit with lights and sockets? very odd, sounds like you need an electrician to visit

as he said^^^^. a local spark with test gear recommended to find the fault.

You still need to get it sorted properly, relying on chance is a very risky idea. Bite the bullet and get a Sparky in you'll feel better

Can you take some Pictures because when you say lights and sockets are tripping I'm guessing it's a split board and one of the rcd main switches is tripping out. But the way you're wording it you make it sound like one circuit when it's probably several circuits.

If the thing tripping looks something like this

then this is an MCB and not an RCD. An RCD will have a test button on it marked T or test.It is unlikely that an MCB is faulty it is just doing its job and protecting the circuit.
If this is tripping then there is a significant fault present and resetting it again and again could well cause damage at the point of fault and possibly to the MCB.
Check again that you have unplugged things like the fridge, tumble drier and washing machine that can have sockets inside cupboards and behind the units.
If everything including outside security lights are disconnected and the MCB is still tripping this indicates a fault in the circuit itself and would require professional guidance to track down.

He could do, or use carrier pigeon. Seems strange he had a fairly serious problem this morning, and not posted, written a letter or telegrammed since. Perhaps he's busy polishing rusty things
