Hi, I'm installing an outdoor light and am going to spur off a socket ring circuit, I was going to spur off a socket that was closest to where the installation is going up, but have realised that there is a spur coming off the socket outlet. Is it possible the have two spurs coming off the same socket outlet or not?

Short answer is no, I suggest you look at pg 362 in the regs, Reg 433.1, Ring and radial final circuit arrangements
You will need to have a Fused Connection Unit (spur) next to your ring socket to control the two (1 existing and 1 new) spurs you intend to put in.

agreed, the intention of the unfused spur off a ring was meant for one point only the reason being that a double socket could max pull about 26A with two 13A plugs pulling a full load (would never happen) and by adding to that your exceeding the current the cable can handle in worst case conditions

cheers for the advice guys, just means i've got a little extra work then.
