Discuss Garage expansion / MCB rating in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

Now your talking tel, supply into a little 2 way metalclad CU & everything tubed. Proper job.:D

I did wonder if I should have a CU installed but with my limited understanding, plus only having a 2.5mm sq inc feed, it seemed overkill.

Is that a nice to have or does it bring a real benefit? There is a 30ma RCD at the source of the feed already.

It's OK mate it's a would be nice to have, but the way you've explained your set up. Not essential. But if done it would be 20a MCB in house to feed garage, then in the garage a small 2 way board with 16a for sockets & 6a for lights.

Which is pointless as the MCBs are so close in rating that it would be pot-luck which one operates on a fault.

Whats going to be plugged into the sockets?

Is the current cable easy to replace? perhaps pull some 4mm through
