Saw this comment over at Solarpowerportal.co.uk and thought it was worth a repost:

Decc wants FITs in line with Germany although they have over 10years of large scale rollout and the economies of scale and eficiencies that go with it. Below are the new rates for Germany which are considerable in excess of our proposed FITs. The full degression is also based on the fact that they anticipate to install 5200 MWp !!! What is going on ???

German PV Market: Degression on Jan. 1, 2012 will be 15 percent.Bonn, Germany. As specified by the federal network agency on 10.27.2011, the degression on Jan. 1, 2012 will be 15 percent. The amount of degression for January 2012 is based on the installed capacity from October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011. According to data from the federal network agency, added capacity for this time period was about 5,200 MWp (3,300 from the first nine months of 2011).The base degression is 9 percent. If the installed capacity exceeds 3,500 MWp in the months relevant for the degression calculation, an additional 3 percent degression is added for every additional gigawatt installed. The following rates are applicable for the coming year:
Roof installations up to 30 kWp, 24.43 cents / kW-hour (21,23 pence) Roof installations up to 100 kWp, 23.23 cents / kW-hour (20,28 pence)Roof installations up to 1 MW, 21.98 cents / kW-hour (19,19 pence)Roof installations greater than 1 MW, 18.33 cents / kW-hour (16 pence)Open-space installations, 17.94 cents / kW-hour (15,66 pence)

I laugh in the face of 15%!!!

Are you really trying to suggest that the British Government copied a well managed, well tried system and managed to completely cock it up, surely not!!!!

i'm from germany and I think the reason for such high FIT (compared to other countries) is the fact that green thinkin in germany has for more developed than in other countries during the past years. The government kind of has no other choice than massively promoting pv, otherwise they won't have much chances to win elections in the future

the green party has gained many supporters in the past years. the fukushima catastrophe completed the thing. nuclear power plants have been shut down already and will be shut down til 2021 at the latest...

Anyway: Nice to be here!!

best regards
valentino
