Hi all,

I am looking to fit a grid switch to the ring main in a kitchen. It will not be pulling much load (extractor, gas hob igniter, dishwasher, and the drivers for led lighting). I plan to wire it just by linking between the supply terminals from the ring. I appreciate it is putting a few items on one part of the ring but as I say the dishwasher is the only appliance that will be pulling a reasonable load.

Can anybody advise as to wether this is the correct way to wire the switch as I have not used one before.

Cheers.
Gra.

You dont mention fusing.....are you happy that LED lights etc will be wired direct to a 30a circuit or do you propose to add fuses to the grid system?

A central switch panel for all kitchen appliances etc....nothing wrong with what the OP proposes, but each output will have to be fused, probably by a grid fuse carrier,it may get a bit busy. Preference would be a separate radial for each switch from the CU.

Edit....actually only the lights would require a grid fuse....a 2.5mm from each grid switch to an appliance and a FCU local to the appliance would be ok.

Sorry wirepuller for not making myself clearer. the original op makes no mention of fusing so couldn't understand why you would do this without adequate protection to the individual circuits.

Thanks for the clarification
