Hi Guys,

I'm by no means an electrician but have never had any issues installing new ceiling lights, etc.

We've had an electrician re-wire the house and ive just come to fit the light fitting in one of the rooms, a ceiling rose. The light switch is like this, which has been wired as you can see, COM/L1, this done by the electrician.

The ceiling rose only has 1 wire coming through as so, with a L/N/E, no matter how i connect these to the ceiling rose it just doesnt work. Can anyone shed any light on it for me please?

This is a box room with no other switches/lights, etc. Just 1 switch and 1 light.

Thanks in advance.

Did it work before you dismantled it?

looking at that rose, there's no connection between the browns. connect browns together. must be a JB above. and looks like old wiring ( double red) has been used for the switch wire.

The brown cable should be in the same terminal; block as the brown flex, it's been wired from a JB

Not a full rewire then?

No mate they wires are the right colour so it must be OK
You know Murdoch I wondered what you were getting at, they old age and dementia creeps up on you well I see now what you were getting at twin reds eh, dohh

I hope you didn't pay for a complete rewire as you've been done.

What did the cert say?
