Nothing Shocking

Hi everyone,

I've just signed on a 4-day Foundation Course with a view to taking the C&G Domestic Installers course and exam. I've done a lot of different 'jobs' in my time (thus far), but nothing's really stuck. Almost finished training as a Primary School Teacher (last placement away from completion) but I was a bit useless at the politics of the job and dreaded going to school to work almost as much as I dreaded attending it as a kid. I would consider myself a hard-worker, but a bit aimless when it comes to career goals and a proper career trajectory.
I've been very kindly offered an entry-level position working as an electrician (he said the position would be mainly 'fault finding') with an acquaintance of mine, after I finish getting my qualifications (late December, fingers crossed). I am excited and terrified in equal measures. Hopefully I can learn all I need to know to be a competent electrician. Well, that's me, really, thanks for having me on board.

''Tis the tapestry of our lives that make us what we are. Welcome aboard, I hope you find the training practical and theory exciting - the search button on this forum is the door to all your questions answered - oh and look up John Ward on YouTube. Great place to start for the fundamentals.

Thanks for the warm welcome! It's been about a month since I joined this forum and I've had my head down in the On-site Guide and 17th edition trying to get to grips with the information that needs to be digested. I know the book-learning alone won't make me a good spark. Years out in the field learning the trade, I reckon, is what is needed.
I can say that I am a lot less clueless than I was a month ago. I've got one more week of a C&G testing and inspection course to go before I'm finished with the Dom Installers qualification.

Welcome. Have a look to see if you can get access to the trainee section!
