My name is David and I am a retired engineer.

Having worked for Plessey/GEC/Marconi for 47 years retired (Made redundant) 3 years ago.
After 3 years of 'retirement' ..now bored and looking for something interesting to do and keep skills upto date.

Considering installing solar PV, investigating the legalities of installing my own grid connected, roof mounted PV array.

Any advice, would be welcome

Welcome to the forum.

I think you will find that getting MCS registered is not worth the cost / time / hassle / paperwork just for your own install.
If it is not installed by an MCS registered company then you will not get the feed in tariff.
However good luck with whatever you do.
