Been thinking of buying my apprentice this drill Hitachi DH24DVC 24v SDS Hammer Drill 2 x 2.0ah NiMH

Any one used one or know of any half decent that they would recommend for a similar price?
go for the 18v li ion ones.

bosch, makita and dewalt can all be had for around £200.

ni cads are not as widely available as they used to be and the trend is going to continue.

besides if you stick to one voltage battery it means the other kit is cheaper cause you can go body only

go Li-Ion. NiMH are sooo last year. but hitachi gear is the dogs nuts. i had a NiCad one for years. outpaced a 110 stand up Hilti on drilling 9" rebar concrete.

I was thinking it's not a bad drill for the money. He would only really be using it for boxing up on new builds and drilling stud work with a keyless chuck adaptor and a spade bit. I'll have a look at some Li-Ion ones....don't want to spend to much on him though :wink5:

He has 110v drill, lead and transformer but always fighting for a socket or constantly being unplugged onsite is a pita. At least the batteries can be charged up in the site office, canteen, etc.

Hitachi DH18DSL/JJ 18v SDS Plus Rotary Hammer Drill 2 x 5.0ah Li-Ion

I have that but only with a single 3Ah, done a lot of hard work and can be used one handed up a ladder if needs must...2 mode only...no chisel function aka roto-stop so not sure if thats a deal breaker
18V 3Ah compatibles can be had for under £40 a pair on ebay...and lots of cheap bare tools kicking about

Hitachi DH25DAL 25v Cordless Li-ion Hammer Drill 2 x 3.0AH

3 mode

All the SDS cordless stuff FFX do...seemingly they are having a clearout pre warehouse move
Drills Drivers, Sds Drills Cordless
