I've recently been to look at doing a eicr at a number of hmo buildings they originally were houses about 20 years ago
they were tested 5 years ago by an Nic registered company
ive noticed that most of the consumer units have no rcd protection and a lot of the circuits have shared cables
one of them has 4 in
If I get the job
would this mean that the consumer units no longer comply

What you are trying to acertain is the condition of the installation in comparison to the version of BS7671 to which it was installed. You then code the installation accordingly to the current version of BS7671. So basically if it complied at the time of installation it will only be coded a C3 on your report.
