I'm looking in to fitting this at home and wondered if any one had any pointers. particularly what and where to buy. looked in screwfix, this stuff any good? only looking at hard wired systems.
cheers, adie

Not generally worth doing unless you have a specific problem, the picture quality even on the IP ones is not so good and generally someone will either damage the camera or wreck the place looking for a recorder.
As a deterrent a normal cheap CCTV camera with a 12V power supply will do the same job.

If you do go ahead then generally get the highest resolution you feel is worth buying and ensure the recorder can record in high quality. The IP cameras tend to be a lot more expensive but some of them are fairly low resolution so do just check.
Just remember that if you have high res cameras and go on month long holidays that you will need a large hard drive to keep all the records.

sorry if I didn't explain myself properly, I'm only considering hard wired ones, not wifi. this http://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/swann-swnvk-472852-4-channel-1080p-hd-nvr-cctv-kit-with-2-cameras/9534h

Sorry I was not referring to wifi systems (though I hear they can be OK).

The camera type on your link is a 2.1 megapixel Internet protocol (IP) camera these can have advantages over the analogue cameras as they often use Power over ethernet (PoE) and so do not require a separate power supply. However the 1.3MP cameras are not much better than high quality analogue cameras.

Each camera you add requires more storage to keep a certain period of recordings.
So when that one say 45 days it is on low frame rate and only two cameras, if you had four cameras you would only get 22 days recording and so on.
