It is unlikely to be a ring then. More likely a spur, or a radial.
What makes you think it is a ring final circuit?

The OPs statement "experiencing intermittent loss of electricity in that ring" sort of led me to think it maybe a ring....

But from the description of the issue I suspect its more likely a spur off that ring that has been damaged. or it isn't a ring at all.

Lol. Hope no offence taken . A lot of people use 'of' instead of 'have' now. Not sure where it came from. Strange. Daz
It is because of how that person pronounces it - really I would spell it 'should uv' but I won't because you get 'ansey'!

For a breaker to be damaged by a direct short circuit it would have to have been incorrectly spec'd (MCBs should be selected based on expected PFC) or it was already old and damaged.
The worry is a break in continuity in a ring shouldn't lose power on the ring unless another fault already exists.
Or the Fault was actually in a spur off the ring and is still faulty.

Which leaves us all guessing.

Me thinks the OP needs a competent spark......... or else we may as well be pxssing in the wind...

I will say this only once
...

If the power goes off altogether they'll need the candle with the handle. Daz
