Discuss Isolators mounted on panel doors in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have been told that it is acceptable to physically mount a panel isolator of up to 63Amps on the panel door. This has been refuted by a third party citing EN60204-1 clause 11.2.1 which states: -

No devices except devices for operating, indicating, measuring, and cooling shall be mounted on doors or on normally removable access covers of enclosures. Where control devices are connected through plug-in arrangements, their association shall be made clear by type (shape), marking or reference designation, singly or in combination (see 13.4.5).

I cannot find any supporting evidence for mounting the isolator on the door but in my mind the isolator is an operating device therefore is acceptable?

It,s usual to have isolator handle on door with the isolator mounted on back plate, the only equip. wired on door are usually selector switches & indication ect.

Agree with that advise
Also it would require to be interlocked so that it cant be opened in the on position

You can now get isolators which stop the door opening whilst powered up but there is a small pin hole in the side which when using a paper clip or something similar size lets you open the door with panel powered up.

The problem is this situation exists and to obtain a CE certificate it is required to be moved away from the door which is not a small or easy job. I really need some supporting regulation to verify the acceptability of the isolator on the door.
