Hi guys just a quick one which has been playing on my mind. I worked for a smoke extract and ventilation contractors and have just recently left.

Before my departure I was given information by way of the apprentice that the project manager wasn't putting in 3 phase isolators and just using the main control panel as isolation.

I have installed, connected and tested 100s of these and when I questioned this I got an arsey response from some who wasn't an electrician or electrically minded saying he's allowing it to happen and it was on with him. Being hesitant and my last day with the company if I'm being honest I wasn't doing this.

Was I right in doing so? Is there any laws saying it needs isolation apart from the main control panel of course?

local isolation is desirable, but not necessarily required.
